Most of the time, my work is process driven.
I'm a "materials" girl... I like to play with heavy-bodied textures (that may or may not like one another,) with a mapped-out plan of layers that are added in a very methodical manner.
This year, there were pieces of work created in my mind that DEMANDED to be made.
"Liar, Liar. World On Fire" was inspired by the social/political state of affairs found around our globe today-- global warming, marches, protests, terrorism-- the world is on fire. This work is about so many different things.
The "Bollywood Series" was in my brain for over a year! Inspired by the rich colors and architectural elements found in India, this collection induces happiness.
"Love, Grani" is very personal. I don't typically create animal imagery in my art. However, after an unexpected visit from an imaginary friend, Grani asked to have his picture made. And I obliged.
Yes, the work of 2017 seems to be shifting for me. More expressive. More colorful. More heartfelt.
More me.
With much more to come.
